Criterion 24/7 Privacy Policy
Effective September 4, 2026.
Criterion 24/7 is an independent iPhone and iPad companion app developed by Christopher Meiklejohn. This policy covers the app and its widgets.
Information on your device
The app requires no account and includes no advertising or analytics SDKs. It stores preferences, cached film information and artwork, and a record of films observed by the app locally in a container shared with its widgets. The record concerns the stream’s programming; it does not measure which films you watch. The app does not upload these local preferences or records to my server.
Notifications are optional and scheduled locally with your permission. You can turn them off in the app or your device’s Settings. The app does not register a remote push-notification token.
Network requests
The app and widgets request current film information, artwork, and recent airings from public Criterion services, their image hosts, and the Zabriskie backend hosted on Railway. These requests expose ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and request metadata, to the receiving services. Hosting providers may process this information in operational or security logs. The app does not attach an account identifier or advertising identifier to these requests.
Opening Criterion Channel links takes you to a separate service. Its account, subscription, playback, and privacy practices are governed by its own policies.
Support
If you email me, I receive your email address and the information you choose to include. I use that information to respond and troubleshoot the issue. Please don’t send passwords or sensitive personal information. You can contact me to request deletion of support correspondence.
Your choices and questions
You can disable notifications, and deleting the app and its widgets removes their local app data from the device. Device backups are managed by your Apple settings.
